Hi! I’m Scott Beibin!
I’m an inventor, artist, creative technologist, and researcher focusing on the intersection of science and art.
I love to create and work on projects that spark curiosity and creativity in others. I also love working on improving the state of the world through my activism.
My current projects focus on a range of topics including space exploration / space analog research, archeology and archaeoacoustics, open source hardware and machine design, off-grid living and low tech solutions, sound design and psychoacoustics, 3D scanning, 3D printed ecotecture, low power / packet radio, self improvement and consciousness research as well as experiments in human autonomy and horizontal coordination via collectivism and cooperativism.
I enjoy seeking out the spaces, places and projects where new ideas emerge and am a huge fan of impromptu jam sessions and vegan picnics in peculiar locales.
Welcome!
Projects

AncientScan focuses on the documentation of ancient spaces and artifacts by utilizing advanced 3D scanning and visualization techniques including LiDAR and photogrammetry.

Archaeoacoustic Artifacts focuses on documenting and visualizing the acoustic properties of ancient architecture.

Evil Twin Booking Agency is a project created in order to give a wider platform to radical and important ideas, co-founded in 2002 with Elizabeth Jane Cole

Groucho Fractal is a science comedy liberation-ecotech stage performance where audience members make 3d printed organic vegan snacks on a bike powered 3d food printer.

Mandelbot Ecotech focuses on the development of ecologically sound and radically open source hardware

M.A.R.S Tesseract Habitats
A design pattern for ecologically sustainable and all vegan Space Analog Research habitats

Music on Mars
Music on Mars is an audio process software prototype that simulate the acoustic properties of Mars based upon data from the Mars Perseverance Rover SuperCam (co-created with my friend John Knott)

Offworld Voyage is an all-vegan zero-waste astronaut Space Analog Research project solving for offworld exploration and climate biodevastation on Earth

Ptelepathetique
Ptelepathetique is a spectral-melodic music project that focuses on synthesis as well as psychoacoustics and archaeoacoustics. I travel the globe and play sets in all kinds of locations using my off-grid power set up.

Things That Should Exist
Things That Should Exist acts as a label for releases of my creative work.

Unsolicited Advice
Unsolicited Advice is an advisory and consulting service
Our work is quite diverse and spans several thematic realms such as consulting and advising, knowledge sharing, collaborative decision-making, scientific education, empowering creativity, problem solving, DIY-ethic, environmentalism, conscious consumption, decentralization, and fomenting community.
WHY 2025 – Offworld Voyage: Can Training for Mars Exploration Also Address Human Adaptation to Climate Bio-devastation on Earth?
This talk will present the design philosophy behind Offworld Voyage, a decentralized science initiative that develops ecologically sustainable training habitats for use in simulated Mars surface exploration missions – while also solving for adaptation to extreme climate change on Earth.
re:publica 25: Offworld Voyage: Designing A Plant Based Mars Base
Can training for Mars exploration also solve for adaptation to climate biodevastation on Earth?
Scott Beibin – Mandelbot Ecotech [Autonomous Ecologies #2]
Autonomous Ecologies #2 was organized by Black Sky Society, Anoma, and Knowable and took place July 16, 2023 in Paris.
HCPP22 | Scott Beibin – Mandelbot Ecotech (A design philosophy)
In this talk, inventor Scott Beibin will be sharing the Mandelbot Ecotech philosophy that he developed for ecological machine design that respects human freedom and autonomy.
“I want people to know that anyone can do science”
