Hi! I’m Scott Beibin!

I’m an inventor, researcher and creative technologist focusing on the intersection of science, art and activism. I’m a founder and co-founder of many projects and organizations. I love to seek out the spaces and places where new ideas take form and new language emerges.

I’m a huge fan of the Do-It-Yourself ethic as well as knowledge sharing and the Do-It-Together ethic. Much of my creative work is designed to encourage deep curiosity and creativity while happening through a lens of experimentation and problem solving (with culture jamming and educational components woven in).

My current projects focus on space analog research, liberation eco-technologies, archaeology and archaeoacoustics, open source hardware design, off-grid power production, LiDAR scanning, 3D printed eco-construction and LoRa mesh networking.

My music projects often serve as a space for elaborate science experiments, and have included the creation of an audio process prototype that simulates the acoustic properties of Mars, as well visualizing sound in ancient architectural spaces. My musical compositions often incorporate my research into archaeoacoustics, astroacoustics, bioacoustics, and psychoacoustics.

I have a lifelong deep fascination with real-life experiments in human autonomy and exercises in communitarianism and decentralized coordination – including consensus decisionmaking and organizations run as collectives and cooperatives. It’s especially exciting to me when these processes are understood and described in a technical way. I’m also a huge fan of consciousness exploration and anything that promotes self realization and self improvement.

And finally, I am also a huge fan of impromptu jam sessions, building sculptures out of dumpstered and found objects and vegan picnics held in peculiar and remote locales.

See you out in the world somewhere!

Some of My Projects + Organizations

Here are some of my recent presentations:

WHY 2025 – Offworld Voyage: Can Training for Mars Exploration Also Address Human Adaptation to Climate Bio-devastation on Earth?

This talk presents the design philosophy behind Offworld Voyage, a decentralized science initiative that develops ecologically sustainable training habitats for use in simulated Mars surface exploration missions – while also solving for adaptation to extreme climate change on Earth.

re:publica 25: Offworld Voyage: Designing A Plant Based Mars Base

Can training for Mars exploration also solve for adaptation to climate biodevastation on Earth?

Scott Beibin – Mandelbot Ecotech [Autonomous Ecologies #2]

Autonomous Ecologies #2 was organized by Black Sky Society, Anoma, and Knowable and took place July 16, 2023 in Paris.

HCPP22 | Scott Beibin – Mandelbot Ecotech (A design philosophy)

In this talk, inventor Scott Beibin will be sharing the Mandelbot Ecotech philosophy that he developed for ecological machine design that respects human freedom and autonomy.
